Yesterday, I needed some info that I normally keep on my Zaurus. Well, when I upgraded to Sharp's 3.10 ROM, my address book backup data became obsolete (they changed formats). Now I have to learn Perl so I can create a script that will pull my old address book data into a readable format. I've no idea how to create a script that will pull that data and create a file that's readable in 3.10's address book. I've the feeling I'm going to have to instead create a script to put the data into a readable .txt file and then input the data by hand into my Zaurus...either that or install QtopiaDesktop and input it that way, then sync my Zaurus. Either way, its going to be a royal pain...Sharp changed the format but didn't give users a tool to convert. WTF. This would never have happened with Palm or Handspring.
Zaurus and the Blog
All data pertains to the Sharp Zaurus Personal Data Assistant. Blog talk may also contain other PDA makes and models.
